About SMB Edge!

SMB Edge! was created based on the fact that there are many Small and Medium-sized businesses (SMBs) without the resources or access to the information owners and managers need to make well-informed decisions in the current economy.

What does "SMB" Mean?

"SMB" stands for "Small to Medium-sized Business"… depending on what country you are located in, there are different definitions. For the purpose of this site, we consider a Small to Medium-sized Business to be a company with under 500 employees and/or with less than $100,000,000 in annual sales. The term "SMB" is often interchanged with "SME", which stands for 'Small to Medium-sized Enterprise'.

Fast Facts:

• In the US, there are over there are over 26 million firms with less than 500 employees (census.gov)
• In the European Union, there are over 20 million companies that would be classified as SMB's (europa.eu)
• In Canada, there are over 2.2 million businesses with fewer than 500 employees (ic.gc.ca)

In addition, there are at least another 40 million SMB's in South America and Asia. That means there are over 88 million SMB's that are potentially in need of good advice but don't have the budget to pay for it... that's where SMB Edge! hopes to play a small role.

While SMB's are the main focus of this site, most of the information here is pertinent for small, home-based business all the way up to large multi-national enterprises. In short, most 'best practices' are applicable to businesses of all sizes!

The Purpose of SMB Edge!

As we all know, the access to capital is tighter than ever and many companies that survived the last few years have limited their budgets to include only the necessities when it comes to running their business.
